How to Conquer the Facebook Zero Algorithm Update

How to Conquer the Facebook Zero Algorithm Update

The Kate Show | Episode #3

Does it seem like no one is seeing your Facebook posts? It's because they aren't.

Last week, I mentioned that 95% of your Facebook fans don't see what you post on your business Facebook page. Why is this? Today on The Kate Show, I go in-depth about Facebook Zero, what it is, and how you can have a successful social media strategy "because of" it, rather than "in spite of" it.

Facebook Zero (the affectionate term we marketing peeps are using for Facebook's latest algorithm update) is making sure that Facebook business pages are seen less and less if they don't post real, engaging, or inspiring content.

If you are baffled as to why Facebook is making this change, keep in mind that Facebook is...

  • A business with the right to change in any way that it wants, whenever it wants, and how it wants

  • Geared toward the individual users, not toward businesses

  • Expecting other businesses to pay-to-play, because since when do businesses provide free advertising services to each other?

Here's what Facebook has to say about the algorithm change:

Plus, I read a post from Mark Zuckerberg himself (the founder of Facebook) that explains why they are making this huge change to how Facebook works:

So...how can you make sure your fans still see your posts?

Post great content. Don't be salesy. Don't resort to "engagement baiting," as that will result in Facebook making sure no one sees your posts. If you post amazing content but still want more engagement, you can pay to boost your posts or place an ad.

The only digital marketing platform you own and can control is your mailing list.

Be Responsible for your social marketing and keep in mind that you don't own your followers on Facebook or Instagram. In fact, the only digital marketing platform you own and control is your mailing list. If you don't have a mailing list, you need to compile one and start sending a monthly email newsletter as soon as possible. Social media will always change, but email marketing won't (and hasn't changed for many years).

Use social media resources that have professionally prepared Facebook and Instagram posts for you to use. This frees you to focus on Facebook Live without having to worry about what to post during the in-between times.
