Marketing Notes

  • Hi, I'm Kate the Socialite. You might know me from my chart-topping podcast, The Kate Show. Today I'm going to share with you the basic elements of simplified marketing.

First, let's talk about what you don't need to waste your time or money doing:

Social media, beyond the occasional or weekly post. Social media is great for selling retail products, but social media lacks any data around how well custom, high end services are sold. This is telling, and it means that if you offer a service that is high end, custom, or luxury, you shouldn't be expecting to get clients from social media. Your type of client makes buying decisions based on referrals from friends or family and their own google research.

Social media ads and boosted posts are not worthy investments, either. Your type of client doesn't see their design or organizing or staging project as something that can be mass-produced, and most often, this client prefers to first know you and feel like you understand them before they sign up for a paid service. Running an ad that promotes your services to people who don't know you will not benefit you or them in the end.

Google ads - unless you are promoting a free offering, running Google ads that strictly promote your services will often fall flat. (If you hire an Adwords professional and use a free offer to hook your leads, you'll get better results.) Ads aren't meant to replace good marketing. Ads are meant to drive people TO that marketing (a blog post, a free offer, etc).

Now, let's talk about the simple marketing practices you can implement in place of all the busywork you just got rid of:

Write one blog post per month. The topic should be relevant to the services you offer, such as "How My Design Process Works," or "Top 5 Benefits of Working with a Professional Organizer." Avoid topics that teach people how to do YOUR job, such as "How to Select Paint Colors" or "How to Stage Your House" unless you want to attract the DIYer. Stick with topics that illustrate how easy you make the whole experience. Google will index your blog post and capture all the keywords you naturally used. If you are consistently blogging, you'll see your website traffic start to increase. Hurray!

Create a free offer and include it at the end of every blog post, as well as on the home page or top banner area of your website. This free offer could be a short PDF, video, or audio clip that provides solutions or answers that your ideal client would find valuable. For example, an interior design firm could provide a 3 page PDF baseline pricing guide, along with a few photos of their work. Most people will want a ball-park idea of how much their project with you will cost before contacting you; offering a free pricing guide is the common sense solution. If your client isn't cost-minded, you could instead illustrate your client process and address the FAQs they might have.

Send one newsletter per month. Once someone reads your blog post and signs up for your free offer, it's your job to stay in touch. Your monthly newsletter is a great way to remind these people (as well as your past clients and leads) that you are still open for business. Your newsletter should be short and to-the-point. Present one topic and tell your reader what to do next when they reach the end. For example, you could send a newsletter about kitchen refreshes and explain what you do as part of that service, then end with a call-to-action that says, "Book a Kitchen Consult Today." Don't distract your reader by cramming unnecessary information into the newsletter, such as products from your online shop, or your latest blog post, or a recent trip you took. The more on-topic you can stay, the more likely your newsletter will convert a lead into a paying client.

There you have it - a simple content marketing strategy that doesn't require you to throw money at ads or live on social media. After working with nearly a thousand home professionals throughout the US, UK, and Canada, I can personally attest to the effectiveness of speaking directly to your ideal client in this way. The blog, free offer, and newsletter work together to attract and convert the type of clients who will ultimately grow the bottom line of your business.

If you need help creating a blog post, free offer, or newsletter, you are in the right place. We have templates for each of these, and we'll even help you customize them. On-brand, effective marketing for the home industry is possible, sensible, and with Socialite, it gets done.

  • Hey there, I'm Kate the Socialite. In this short audio segment, I'm sharing my 30 day marketing plan, broken down by week. You might think that you have to be doing some form of marketing every day to see any results, but thankfully that just isn't the case. If you are following the marketing advice I shared in my first audio segment, you'll quickly realize that the most effective marketing tactics only need to be done monthly or weekly rather than daily.

Now, let's talk about your marketing schedule. It has to be sustainable, or you'll just stop doing it. That's understandable.

This marketing content calendar should be implemented 30 days before any content is released. For example, if you want your plan to be in action on March 1st, you should start working on it around February 1st.

Week #1: Create your monthly newsletter and schedule it to send in the first week of the next month.

Week #2: Create a blog post and schedule it to publish during the second week of the next month.

Week #3: Plan for one social media post per week; your images / captions can be recycled from your blog posts and newsletters.

Week #4: Attend a real-life event or meet a potential referral partner for coffee; these relationships and in-person interactions are crucial to successful marketing.

There you have it, a solid marketing plan. Use Google Calendar or Asana or an app of your preference to send recurring reminders for each of these tasks so that you don't forget.

If you need help creating a blog post, free offer, or newsletter, you are in the right place. We have templates for each of these, and we'll even help you customize them. On-brand, effective marketing for the home industry can be simple, consistent, and profitable with Socialite Vault.

  • Hi, I'm Kate. Here are Socialite Vault, we offer 3 marketing plans to suit your business - Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Each plan comes equipped with everything you need to implement our marketing calendar and recommended sales funnel.

That's right, you get templates for email newsletters, blog posts, social media, and free offers / lead magnets no matter which plan you select. I'm going to share what we've included on each plan so that you can make the best decision for your business. You don't need to sign a contract , and you can switch between plans any time. Talk about freedom!

First, let's talk about the Silver Plan. If you don't want any customized help, the Silver Plan will be a good fit for you. You can browse through our templates and use whatever you want - as much as you want. You can also email me directly for 1:1 marketing consultation.

Next, let's talk about the Gold Plan. In addition to the great things that Silver has to offer, you also get help customizing your email newsletters, setting up your sales funnel, and analyzing your website SEO as many times as needed. Plus, you also get the ability to consult with me via phone and email on all things related to marketing and growing your business. There is no limit to how often you request a consultation.

Lastly, let's talk about the Platinum Plan. It includes everything from Silver and Gold, with the addition of keyword research and blog editing and formatting. All you'll have to do is tell us which newsletters and blog posts you want, answer a few questions, and we'll take it from there - ensuring that your SEO targets the demographics and local areas that your business needs to reach in order to grow.

But you might be wondering...if these are templates, will the content be too generic and will other people in your industry be using the same templates? Valid concerns.

Our content is specific, curated, and tailored to the high end home market. We do not create "fluff" pieces or DIY focused marketing.

Our content is created by experienced, professional writers who specialize marketing for residential interior design, staging, window treatments, and organizing. We know the nuances of this unique industry, and we create content that is current and practical for you to use. We also welcome your input if you have a topic idea that you'd like us to bring to life.

Because everything we create is easily customized (by you or by our team), we haven't had any "copycat" issues among our clients - and we've been offering this service since 2016. Everything we offer comes with curated images and well-crafted copywriting. That said, everything is easily modified to look and sound just like your brand.

Here's how the customization process works… (view all plans details by clicking here).
